While the Gold Rush is perhaps the most well-known of drinks that can benefit from a Regal Shake, there are literally countless drinks that benefit from the technique. The result creates something much greater than the sum of its parts, as the grapefruit oils are released into the drink itself & deliciousness ensues. To execute the Regal Shake, all you have to do is peel a long grapefruit twist, but instead of expressing the oils over the top of the finished drink, you instead toss it into the cocktail shaker along with everything else and give it a good hearty shake. The technique itself is about as simple as it gets, yet can yield impressively tasty results. With that said, the drink for this week was created by Theo Lieberman & it utilizes the now famous “Regal Shake” technique that he created. As an old pro at mixing cocktails, I've made my share however, this was my first time coming across a Gold Rush. We don’t know about you, but right now, our team is currently stuck at home & on a budget, so these recipes are for everyone else who is in the same boat. Recently, I was fortunate enough to stumble upon a DAMN GOOD cocktail during a virtual cocktail mixology session with Clyde May's Whiskey and Natalie from Beautiful Booze. In other words, no drinks with esoteric and hard to find liqueurs, and nothing crazy that will dig too deep into your pockets. For those of you that are unfamiliar, Market Cocktails is a series of cocktail recipes we share that use only ingredients & products that you could get at your local grocery store, bottleshop or bodega.
